Prohibited & Restricted Items
Version 4.0 · The short version: if it’s fake, dangerous, illegal or you don’t have the right to sell it — it has no place on gopora.
01Prohibited outright
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Counterfeit & infringing goods | Fake designer bags or watches, replica electronics, pirated media, goods bearing logos you don't have rights to, “inspired by” copies. |
| Dangerous goods | Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, most lithium batteries shipped loose, flammable or corrosive chemicals, radioactive materials. |
| Medicines & drugs | Prescription medicines, controlled substances, unapproved supplements making medical claims, drug paraphernalia. |
| Living things | Animals, plants protected by CITES, ivory, endangered-species products. |
| People & data | Personal data of others, hacking tools, stolen credentials, spyware. |
| Money & value instruments | Currency, coins as legal tender, gift-card resale above face value, lottery tickets, casino chips. |
| Illegal, stolen & recalled | Stolen goods, recalled products (e.g. recalled children's toys), goods illegal in the destination country, tobacco and e-cigarettes without destination-country compliance. |
| Offensive material | Hate symbols, goods glorifying violence, explicit adult material. |
02Restricted categories
Allowed with conditions — listing requirements are shown in the seller dashboard at upload time:
| Category | Condition to list |
|---|---|
| Cosmetics & skincare | Ingredient list, safety certificate (EU CPNP / FDA registration), unopened & sealed only. |
| Jewellery & watches | Hallmark / fineness declaration, authenticity guarantee for brand-name pieces. |
| Electronics | Safety marks (CE/UKCA/FCC/UL), voltage compatibility stated per country. |
| Alcohol | Age-gated checkout (18+/21+), licensed seller only, destination-country duty paid by seller. |
| Food | Expiry date in listing, sealed commercial packaging, destination-country import rules honoured. |
| Antiques & collectibles | Provenance statement; cultural-heritage export permits where required. |
03Consequences
- First confirmed violation: listing removed, seller notified with the specific rule and evidence.
- Repeated or serious (counterfeit, safety, fraud): shop suspended, payouts held, rightsholders and authorities informed where the law requires.
- Attempts to relist removed items under a new identity: permanent ban from selling.
These policies follow IATA dangerous-goods rules, CITES and the consumer-safety regimes of the markets we serve (EU GPSR, UK, US CPSC). In a conflict, the stricter rule applies.
